I know you all are on the edge of your seat. So let me just tell you my stroller woes have been solved (oh, first-world problems)!
After the pieces weren’t compatible to change our iCandy Apple Jogger into an iCandy Pear, I did more irrational things that confused my husband. Like frantically running to Staples for packing tape at 10pm and making him print 200 copies of the return label at his office. And several teary phone calls to various customer service people and my mom (just to whine). After I sufficiently boxed it up the pieces to return them, I woke up in the middle of the night, realizing that I should open it again and see if I even liked the seat configurations (I hadn’t even tried them on my Apple frame after I saw the wheel issue). See, I had been to Babies R Us and all over the internet researching doubles and tandems like crazy (including all of your recommendations). But, I couldn’t find anything I liked. Either I was buying something that was $600+ or I was buying a sit-n-stand. The expensive options seemed stupid, considering all we had already invested in our current travel system. And the sit-n-stands, while they look awesome and probably eventually would be, didn’t seem to fit out needs with Rosemary being as young as she is right now.
I can’t say enough about the helpful-ness of iCandy. Even though the baby store I bought the upgrade pack from said that iCandy couldn’t help and to just return the stuff, I found that to be wrong. iCandy’s US offices were very responsive to my complaint. They even checked part compatibility and the issues with the British branch of the company to see what could be done and got back to me every time within a day. Finally, they offered to send me the pieces I needed for free ($60 worth of additional parts). They arrived yesterday and Andrew and I (and Rosemary…so that was super helpful) put them on the frame.
It’s the coolest stroller. It’s not any wider or longer than the original stroller! The pictures above were taken before we put the new wheels on the front, but you get the idea. It’s even more sturdy now, and Rosemary has been climbing in and out without any tippy issues at all. It has endless configurations, fits our Maxi Cosi car seat, is comfortable for both kiddos, is easy to fold up and down, can still be a single if we want, and Rosemary loves riding around in it already. She points to the car seat and goes “Baby, baby!” Best of all, we aren’t letting our initial investment go to waste, and I’m confident we’ll get years of use out of this puppy.
So, thanks iCandy. I can’t recommend the iCandy Pear enough.
