On Sunday mornings, Rosemary reads the paper and eats breakfast. It is funny to imagine the routines we’ll adapt to once the new baby is here.
We had a good weekend. We were watching Portlandia on Netflix on Saturday morning and I went out to the garage to get paint and a brush to touch-up a wall in the living room. It just seemed like it needed to be done right that second. Andrew and I went to one last movie (The Muppets, at our discount theater) and got some Middle Eastern food while my parents babysat on Saturday. My stepdad assembled the new baby’s crib for us and put new batteries in our thermostat. We put birdseed out and got a hummingbird feeder and nectar. I got some pots at Goodwill and bulked up the little garden in our kitchen window. I decided to wash the car in the alley on Sunday morning, because nothing says “psycho” like being as pregnant as I am doing that outside in my PJs on a brisk February morning. I cleaned the garage a bit and caught up on laundry.
We also went to Old Navy to pick up a few things for the new baby, as I was starting to think we had not nearly enough things to get through even the first week (like we had a few shirts, but no matching pants). Of course, Rosemary ended up getting purple Ugg-type boots with stars on them that were on clearance. And I stayed up far too late last night and finished watching season 2 of Downton Abbey and the Christmas special. It’s sooo good. You must watch if you haven’t.
I keep having contractions, mostly at night when I am laying down. But they never get into a pattern that would actually mean labor, and eventually stop. All of the waiting is annoying, but I still have to believe at some point, it will be real. My due date is Wednesday, and I’m feeling much more prepared than just last week. Come on, baby!
