Dear Anthea,

You are seven weeks old now! (As of yesterday). You have grown so quickly and are more beautiful every day. Look how long you are in these pictures! And these clothes are size six months!

Yesterday, you slept in your crib for the first time. I moved it into our bedroom, right next to me, so I could still be near you. You’ve gotten too big for your moses basket…you are all arms and legs and you were thwaping the sides and bottom already. You slept about the same, despite my wild ideas that it might work magic and you’d sleep more soundly.

It’s easy to get a reaction out of you now. You smile and almost laugh…it’s sort of an enhanced smile without any sound. You like baths and the bright blue tiles in the bathroom, staring at your stuffed monster and Easter bunny, looking at lights, watching your sister, lounging in the swing, car rides, being outside, and drinking milk to your heart’s content. You are not a fan of tummy time (but will tolerate it for a few minutes at a time), laying flat on your back, having clothes put over your head, your sister splashing you in the bath or trying to eat your toes, or having the sun in your eyes for even a split second. All pretty reasonable, in my opinion.

You had your first Easter this week. And met your dad’s parents. Grandma Cici and Grandpa Tom loved you and you enjoyed all the attention and outings. You are such a lucky girl to be loved by so many.

Speaking of happenstance, we are blessed beyond measure to have you. Even in the darkest, latest hours of the night, I am crazy about you. We are the lucky ones. And we love you.

Your mama
